This internship programme aims to familiarize women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers with the Ministry's policies through short-term associations by providing them qualitative exposure and tapping into their talent to contribute to policy formulation and address issues related to women and children, fostering meaningful interaction and research within the government's initiatives.

Prospective interns are required to submit their applications online on the Internship Programme portal http://wcd.intern.nic.in/ . The applications can be submitted two months prior to the start of the internship, between 1st and 10th of the month (e.g. 1st-10th March for May-June, 1st-10th June for August-September etc.). Any candidate once selected for the internship shall not be eligible to apply for any subsequent term.
The internship is only available for Women students, scholars, social activists and teachers from non-tier-I cities and rural parts of India who are currently enrolled in/associated with any university/academic/non-academic institution. Applicants must fall within the age range of 21 to 40 years.
Tier 1 cities include Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune. Candidates who belong to Tier-I cities are not eligible to apply for internship.
Interns gain exposure to the policies and programmes of the Ministry through short-term associations, including the possibility of undertaking pilot projects or micro-studies focused on the Ministry's ongoing activities. The goal is to equip interns with a comprehensive understanding of the Ministry's mandate, specific programmes, and policy analysis, empowering them to advocate for women and children's issues on various platforms.

The internship spans two months .
Each batch accommodates up to 20 interns.
Each intern would be provided a lump sum stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month. The total stipend for a two months internship amounts to Rs. 40,000/-. The intern would be awarded a certificate only on successful completion of the Programme on terms such as submission/ presentation of papers/ reports of the work done.
Each intern would be provided reimbursement of travel cost (by Deluxe/AC Bus/3 Tier AC Train) for joining of the Programme in the Ministry and return back to home at the end of the Programme. Interns proceeding on tour as part of the Programme would be reimbursed travel cost (by Deluxe/AC Bus/3 Tier AC Train) and DA as per extant GOI rates.
Interns would be provided hostel facility at Working Women Hostel, Jasola Vihar on sharing basis for the duration of their Programme in Delhi. The hostel facility will only include basic amenities like triple sharing accommodation in each room with attached bathroom, bed (mattress is not included), table, chair and cupboard. Mess charges are not included as part of the accommodation and are to be borne by the intern availing the hostel facility. The hostel facility would be available from 2 days prior to the start of Programme upto 2 days after the end of the Programme.
The selection of Interns would be done by a Selection Committee duly constituted for this purpose.
No leave of any kind will be allowed during the Internship Programme except on medical grounds (as certified by a doctor) or due to some unavoidable circumstances (which do not include leaves required for appearing in any kind of examinations).
Interns are expected to be in formal attires during the office hours.
Interns availing hostel facility at Working Women Hostel, Jasola Vihar must abide by the Hostel Rules. Violation of any Hostel Rules will lead to issuance of one warning and to termination of internship with immediate effect on the second violation. Interns joining under ‘Student’ category will be treated as ‘Non-Working’ for Hostel Rules and those joining under ‘Teacher/Scholar/Social Activist’ category will be treated as ‘Working for application of Hostel Rules'.
Each intern has an option to avail hostel facility at Working Women Hostel, Jasola Vihar on triple sharing basis for the duration of their Programme in Delhi. However, it is not mandatory for an intern to avail hostel facility.
The offer of internship by the Ministry of Women & Child Development, is not an offer of any job or a commitment of any future job, hence the offer of internship would not be used as a claim for that matter.
